Endodontic therapy involves removing infected tissue from the tooth roots, then disinfecting those roots before placing a sealer into those roots to prevent infection from reaching the root again.
Our doctors have invested countless hours into continuing education to better serve our patients in need of endodontic therapy. In addition to education, Jones Dental Arts has invested into two vital pieces of technology to make endodontic therapy more successful: 1) dental operating microscopes and 2) cone beam computed tomography (CBCT).
Dental operating microscopes are similar to the microscopes used by Ear, Nose, and Throat surgeons. They allow us to see the inside of the tooth in high magnification to make sure all parts of the tooth have been adequately instrumented and disinfected. Dental operating microscopes are common to see in specialists’ offices, but having one in our general dental practice places Jones Dental Arts in a distinguished minority of clinicians committed to providing the highest level of endodontic therapy possible.
CBCT imaging allows Jones Dental Arts to see 3-dimensional (3-D) radiographic images of your teeth and surrounding structures. Many endodontic issues go undetected or misdiagnosed due to the impossibility of seeing signs of the disease on conventional 2-D x-rays. At Jones Dental Arts, we believe in providing our patients with the best diagnostic information available in today’s market. In addition to aiding in diagnosis, CBCT imaging allows us to see the inside of your infected tooth before ever looking in your mouth, making treating that infection more predictable and more successful.
